With patience, they can learn what knobs and switches and faucets do. Mine did, and I didn't show him how. On one particular day, I discovered that he had figured out how to turn the space heater on to get warm. I got blamed for it too. Then, later, he got me back when he turned out the lights on me when I was in the shower. Dangit!
